I’ve been conversing with a really great group of professionals on Linkedin lately. Mostly entrepreneurs and business owners, and a fair many of them have been involved with the booming hemp and cannabis industries.

There is a recurring theme that folks with the most experience have a hard time actually finding and getting a shot with legal cannabis companies.

So in that spirit, I wanted to give Scott a full feature piece here to highlight some of his strengths and hopefully help him find a place in the industry. If you think he’d be a great fit for you or a company you know, you can email him directly here.

Cheers,
Chris

1) Tell me a bit about yourself and your background with cannabis
Scott:
I grew up in Bedford Ohio right outside of Cleveland but I live in Streetsboro, Ohio now not far from Kent state university. I am married with no kids at the moment.

I started growing cannabis when I was just 15 in my backyard, my closet, the shed out back, and in the woods by my house. I grew quite a bit! My girlfriend and I ended up buying a little house and I set up a small grow room in my basement. It wasn’t long after that medical cannabis went legal in California. I started to get people asking me what it was all about. So, I began looking into it and was blown away with the things I was finding. Cannabis was stopping seizures, and helping with things like colitis and migraines it was amazing. I learned how make tinctures and butter for edibles. I was famous for my green snicker doodles. I always did free work for the people that needed it for medicine. It never felt right to charge someone for relief.

2) What are your areas of expertise in growing and cannabis?
Scott: First off i’m going to say that i believe cannabis is more of vitamin that all mammals need like vitamin A or Zinc. The human body stores cannabinoids in the fat cells like essential minerals. Our bodies produce cannabinoids. In my opinion, cannabis is a vital necessity in our health and survival. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that things like cancer and diabetes, epilepsy etc. have run rampant since the prohibition of cannabis began in 1937 with the marihuana tax act.

I’m really more like a “jack of all trades” of cannabis. I’ve done a lot of things with cannabis for a lot of years and know about all aspects of the plant. I was even part of the first graduating class at the Cleveland School of Cannabis, the first state approved school of its kind.

3) What sort of cannabis business would you like to get into? Would you like to start your own thing, or partner with others?
Scott: I want to find a place in a cultivation facility or dispensary around me. I’m not looking to start a company or get rich, I just want to follow my passion and live the lifestyle that I always have, legally. I want to come out of the shadows and finally fit where I belong and proudly feed my family.

4) You’ve been doing this a while – What are some tips, or wisdom for cultivators or processors?
Scott: I am all organic and I mean organic! I don’t use store bought nutrients or pest control. I make a nitrogen concentrate from banana peels and water. I make a good potassium and phosphorus concentrate full of everything a plant needs from dandelions and water. My grandmas recipes and there’s nothing better plus its free! Growing a couple little mint plants in the pots and ground-up glass on top of the soil keeps bugs away.

Other than that I would say to listen to what people are saying. Give them every bit of information you can about everything, good or bad. Let them make an intelligent decision on what medicine to choose in what form and why. Give them the safest and healthiest medicine you can. And smile you’re changing peoples lives. You’re making it better for them. You’re making a difference.

5) Awesome, and thanks for doing what you do. Where can people contact you?

Scott: My contact is thefallen216@gmail.com and thank you!
